Filling hoses are qualified for transport of refrigerants during filling or draining complete the refrigeration system. The filling hoses are equipped with ½” internal thread with a flat seal and can be directly connected to Witt EA10G valves.
To assure safe working a hand- and check valve are required. A reducing nipple is often needed when filling from a cylinder.
During the release of NH3 into water it is possible that water flows against the NH3 flow and end up in the NH3 system, even if the NH3 pressure is higher then the atmospheric pressure.
The filling hose must be dried and evacuated before use. The filling hose can become cold during the transporting of refrigerant. After disconnecting the hose, condensation of water can occur inside the hose, which is very harmful when introduced into CO2 systems. It is also possible that some water remains in the hose after the pressure test during manufacturing.
Filling hoses should be handled very carefully. They may never nod, should be carefully winded and must be tested and approved every year. Improper use of the hose and couplings, wrong assembly and use or the lack of periodic testing and maintenance can cause failure of the hose which can result serious accidents.
