The oil return ventury ORVW is designed by Wijbenga for use in flooded- en pump circulation systems in refrigeration and heat pump systems. When hot gas from the high pressure side of the system flows through the ventury an under pressure occurs in the ventury chamber. Now a refrigerant/oil mixture from low pressure system side can flow into the ventury chamber. This mixes with the hot gas and flows to the suction side of the compressor.
The refrigerant in the mixture should be evaporated before it flows into the compressor suction side.
The oil system is in balance if as much oil flows back to the compressor as there is swept out of the oil separator.
The ventury may be used for all refrigerants, and depending on the control system, both for systems with non-soluble oil and soluble oil. Time spending manual oil draining and dangerous effects to people and the environment caused by manual oil draining, specific in case of ammonia systems, are over.
